Types of VOICE Lessons

Private lesson (30 minutes once a week)

Group class (2-5 students)

Beginner starts with book "Singing Lessons for Young Singers"

     by Gregory Blankenbehler

     which incorporates Sol fege signing and sight singing, healthy             singing habits, interval reading, and aural skills.

Student with choir experience uses Nancy Faber's book "Successful       Warm Ups, book 1"

Intermediate sight singing lessons with the purpose of  preparing to       audition for higher level of choir or for musical theatre using a             prepared eclectic curriculum by Mrs. Harris

Teaching Philosophy

​

     Those who take voice lessons with me can become comfortable with the sound of their voice, and they will be more capable to share their song. They will gain personal singing confidence.

      I use classically-trained techniques which emphasize the use of head voice.  I start where my students are at and gently address concerns or technique issues as we get to know each other.  In a pleasant manner I work on fixing singing problems. 

      I incorporate a variety of genres and in the range best suited for the student's current ability, but will challenge skill while extending range over time,  Genres include folk, art song, musical theatre, Classical language, popular, Disney, sacred, among others.  

     I incorporate Kodaly Sol fege signing and singing and music theory to give a well-rounded education. Students also study healthy warm ups, rhythm, musicality, stage presence and movement, acting techniques, and sight singing.
